Cineplex’s box-office revenue reached a record C$215.681 million in the third quarter, growing faster than the Canadian cinema chain’s total revenue.

Cineplex said a strong film slate led by Spider-Man: Brand New Day and The Odyssey helped support box-office gains.

Box-office revenue rose 35.2% from C$159.478 million in the third quarter of 2025. Total revenue reached C$440.199 million, up 26.2% from C$348.938 million, as paying attendance increased to 14.833 million from 12.054 million. Cineplex said higher attendance was the main driver of total revenue growth, while a strong film slate supported box-office gains. Cineplex’s broader quarterly results were covered in an earlier EconoTimes report.

Premium-priced products contributed 51.4% of box-office revenue, the largest share Cineplex has recorded for a third quarter. Box-office revenue per patron rose to C$14.54 from C$13.23, while food-service revenue per patron reached C$9.99, compared with C$9.65. Cineplex said premium-priced products were the primary reason for the increase in box-office revenue per patron.

The per-patron figures measure average revenue in each category for each attendee; they are not posted prices for a ticket or a food item. Box-office revenue per patron advanced 9.9% year over year, while food-service revenue per patron increased 3.5%.

Film costs, which Cineplex defines as rental fees paid to distributors, totaled C$120.583 million, up 35.3% from C$89.114 million. They remained 55.9% of box-office revenue. Cineplex linked the increase to higher box-office sales.
