Anthony Morris said he had left Anthropic after helping create Claude Code’s visual desktop experience.

The coding tool first ran in a terminal. Its desktop interface puts code changes and task activity in view while developers supervise several AI agent sessions.

The Oct. 14 release improved parallel task handling and session management. Morris had been discussing the changes and said user feedback would guide further adjustments.

He tied the app to a conviction that people can create for themselves and said he would discuss his next steps soon.

His announcement follows Claude Code engineer Thariq Shihipar’s departure. Shihipar said Oct. 24 that he had left the company after more than a year at Anthropic and planned to take a break before starting another role, according to an earlier report on Shihipar’s departure. Neither Morris nor Shihipar gave a reason for leaving.
