Claude’s paid-plan update changes the names of its Max tiers and the time limit for verified Ultra accounts; subscription rates and weekly allowances remain unchanged.

The initial rollout includes most current subscribers, who do not need to take action. Max 5x is becoming Max, while Max 20x is becoming Ultra. Monthly charges remain $100 for Max and $200 for Ultra. Neither plan’s weekly allowance changes.

Accounts created more recently can remain subject to the timed cap until verification is complete. The company says the measure targets fraud and abuse and will notify affected subscribers by email once the cap is lifted.

The update leaves two distinct usage rules in place: the weekly allowance, which remains unchanged, and the five-hour restriction, which may apply to some newer accounts awaiting verification. Verified Ultra subscribers will no longer face that time-based restriction.
