Coca-Cola and Oreo have joined forces in an unexpected collaboration, introducing limited-edition Oreo Coca-Cola Sandwich Cookies and Coca-Cola Oreo Zero Sugar soda, set to launch in early September. This unique pairing promises a playful twist on two beloved brands.
Coca-Cola and Oreo Unite for Limited-Edition Cookie and Soda Collaboration
Coca-Cola and Oreo, two iconic brands, have joined forces in an unexpected alliance. They will come together as "Besties" to introduce a unique cookie and beverage flavor combination. This collaboration will launch two limited-edition products in early September: Coca-Cola Oreo Zero Sugar soda and Oreo Coca-Cola Sandwich Cookies. The playfulness of this partnership is a fun twist that underlines the importance of “Besties” in our lives.
“Bringing together the playfulness of Oreo and the real magic of Coca-Cola is unexpected, but also feels right because our brands are alike in so many ways,” said Oana Vlad, Coca-Cola Company’s Global Vice President of Brand Strategy, in a statement provided to Food & Wine. “As a first-of-its-kind collaboration for both brands, we are thrilled for besties around the world to join us in celebrating new products, great experiences, and unexpected moments of connection.”
Eugenia Zalis, Global Head of Marketing and Brand for Oreo at Mondelēz International shares her excitement, stating, “The bestie bond between Oreo and Coca-Cola is a playful way to unite our fanbases and celebrate the power of connection and togetherness. We are eagerly anticipating the reaction to the campaign and hope fans are as excited as we are to experience the latest twists on two classics.” This emphasis on the audience's reaction makes them feel valued and integral to the campaign's success.
The Oreo Coca-Cola Sandwich Cookie features two distinctive cookie halves, or “basecakes,” as Oreo calls them. The classic chocolate cookie half is infused with Coca-Cola syrup and popping candies to mimic the fizz of carbonated soda. In contrast, the other half is a Golden Oreo with a Coke-inspired makeover. Sandwiched between the two is Oreo’s original white creme.
The exact tasting notes of the soda remain a mystery. According to the companies, the special drink will blend the taste of Coca-Cola with “flavorful hints inspired by Oreo cookies.”
Coca-Cola and Oreo Launch ‘Bestie Mode’ Merchandise and Slurpee, Expanding Their Unexpected Collaboration
In addition to these treats, the two brands will launch a “Bestie Mode” line of merchandise in mid-September, available at select Forever21 stores and online. The collection, featuring apparel, a cosmetics bag, drinkware, notebooks, socks, and a tote bag, is priced at $20 or less per item, making it accessible to all fans. A Coca-Cola Oreo Zero Sugar Slurpee will soon be available at participating 7-Eleven, Speedway, and Stripes stores.
While this partnership may raise some eyebrows, Coca-Cola and Oreo are no strangers to collaborations. Oreo’s previous partnerships include releases like Oreo Cookie Papa Bites at Papa John, Auntie Anne’s Oreo-Topped Nuggets, Sour Patch Kids Oreos, and Ritz Cracker Oreos. Coca-Cola has also engaged in several non-edible collaborations with brands like High Snobiety, Kith, and Puma and recently launched a widespread campaign with K-Pop group NewJeans.
The Oreo Coca-Cola Sandwich Cookies and Coca-Cola Oreo Zero Sugar Limited Edition soda will be available at supermarkets, convenience stores, and other retailers in early September. A cookie presale is available on Oreo's website for those eager to try these new releases.
And when you do, don’t forget to share a couple of these cookies with your best friend.
