Coface SA has appointed Arch Mortgage Insurance executive John Gaines to its board, replacing Yves Charbonneau while leaving the board’s size, gender balance and number of independent directors unchanged.

At Arch MI, Gaines is deputy chief executive and director of actuarial functions. Coface’s announcement says his responsibilities include pricing, claims reserving and business information systems. The board chose him through its co-option procedure and designated him a non-independent director.

The board retains 10 members, with five women and five men; six directors are independent, the company said. Coface did not announce any other changes to its composition.

Before joining Arch MI, Gaines was director of underwriting at United Guaranty Corporation, which Arch MI acquired in 2016. He had also held senior roles at United Guaranty, including deputy director of risk, leadership of major accounts and operations, and direction of the group’s Canadian operations.

Gaines holds a master’s degree in mathematics from Clemson University and a bachelor’s degree in mathematics from Bob Jones University. He is a Fellow of the Casualty Actuarial Society.

Coface describes its business as global trade credit-risk management. It says it serves 100,000 customers in nearly 200 markets, offering credit insurance, information services, debt collection, single-risk insurance, surety and factoring. The company reported 5,511 employees and revenue of about €1.84 billion in 2025.

Coface’s financial calendar lists its 2026 annual results for Feb. 18, 2027, after market close. The company says the calendar is subject to change.
