No sweet cologne for German Chancellor Angela Merkel.
On New Year's Eve, in German town of Cologne, 120 people most of whom were attacked by group of people, who are allegedly migrants. Charges include mostly theft to sexual molestation and rape. This incident has shook the nation, which has taken 1.1 million migrants last year. Situation was already tense over migrants and Cologne case sparked heavy protest.
However, number criminal complaints are still on the rise. Initial day's numbers were 120, however by Saturday it went up to 379 and today number of complaints reported to Cologne police rose to 516. 40% of those complaints are of sexual in nature.
As days passes more news resurfaces of similar attacks in other European cities, 50 such incidents in German city of Hamburg and even some in Frankfurt. So far, one police chief has been sent early retirement and German interior minister faced heavy grilling.
Over the weekend protest by right wing supporters calling for Step down of Angela Merkel, whose open door policy to migrants facing harsh criticism everywhere in Germany, turned violent and riot police had to fire water cannons and tear gas.
However riots and gang fighting becoming everyday norms now in cologne, on Sunday a group of 20 people attacked six men of Pakistani origin, two of whom are now in hospital.
With each passing day, crisis of Cologne getting larger than ever, threatening position of Merkel in German politics.
