With renegade tech billionaire Elon Musk moving so fast, a lot of what he is trying to do can often be lost in translation. Regarding his new venture called The Boring Company, for example, the Tesla boss made it clear that he wants to drill for underground roads. In a recently posted Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) page on its website, the company’s plans involving the Hyperloop was also revealed.
On the FAQ page, The Boring Company answers many of the questions that people may have with regards to Musk’s drilling plans. It’s likely that the question why the billionaire would want to create underground highways would not be as common as to how this would be done and how far it would go.
The page also addressed the concerns about the cost of drilling the tunnels, the dangers that earthquakes pose, and how it will affect the experience of people on the surface. Perhaps the most important information on the list, however, is the small section that mentions the Hyperloop project.
“The electric skate can transport automobiles, goods, and/or people. And if one adds a vacuum shell, it is now a Hyperloop Pod which can travel at 600+ miles per hour,” the page reads.
Although the details occupy only a small, almost inconsequential part of the FAQ page, it serves to confirm quite a few things that are of significance. For one thing, it serves to solidify Musk’s plans on adding Hyperloop technology into the plans of The Boring Company, Futurism reports. The multi-entrepreneur already mentioned the possibility before, but this is development makes it more concrete.
Several countries and cities have expressed a keen interest in having their own Hyperloop access over the years. By combining the efforts of The Boring Company and Musk’s vision for an ultra-fast mode of transport, the world could be looking at extensive underground drilling activities in the future.
