Priime on Thursday launched a new app “Live GIF’ that will allow users to convert their Live Photos into GIFs that can be easily shared on social networking sites. The app is suitable only for iPhone 6s and 6s plus as Live Photos can be taken only with them.
The app is capable of automatically detecting the Live Photos on the phone and arranges them in a grid. Users are required to just tap the Live Photo they want to turn into a GIF and the app takes care of the rest, turning it to a shareable GIF.
“That GIF or a video taken from the Live Photo can then be saved to the Camera Roll, sent in a message or email, or uploaded to social networks”, MacRumors said.
Priime CEO Arthur Chang says the idea with Live GIF was to experiment with 3D Touch and iPhone 6s capabilities — as well as building “a really easy app that just does what everyone wants with Live Photos”, Techcrunch reported.
“We originally created this with iOS 9.1, because working with Live Photos is well documented and supported, but we decided to go further and push to get it working with iOS 9.0 so we wouldn’t have to wait for 9.1 to come out of beta,” he adds.
Priced at $1.99, the app also allows users to open their photo to edit in Priime, in order to push them from one app to the other.
“The link between Priime and Live GIF is that it’s the start of us starting to explore things like 3D Touch for better control for editing photos,” says Chang. “Though it’s not editing anything just yet, that will be in Live GIF as we explore adding it to Priime as well.”
