The seasonally adjusted retail sales in Czech Republic dropped 1.4 percent sequentially in December. On a year-on-year basis, retail sales rose 3 percent, the same as non-adjusted, according to the Czech Statistical Office.
In December, seasonally adjusted sales except of motor vehicles and motorcycles dropped 1.4 percent sequentially in December at constant prices. Meanwhile, it rose 3 percent on a year-on-year basis. Non-adjusted sales for sale of automotive fuel rose 6.8 percent year-on-year for sale of non-food goods by 4.1 percent and for sale of food by 0.1 percent. The highest growth was seen in retail sale through internet, which recorded a growth of 15.9 percent.
Sales of beverages, food and tobacco in specialised stores rose 2.2 percent, whereas in non-specialised stores it remained stagnant. Lower sales were recorded for other household equipment in specialized stores.
For the fourth quarter, retail sales rose at constant prices by 4.2 percent year-on-year. For non-food goods, sales rose 6.5 percent, whereas for automotive fuel and for food sales rose 5.9 percent and 0.2 percent respectively. In the automotive segment, sales were up 4.3 percent.
For the whole of 2016, retail trade except of motor vehicles and motorcycles, sales were up 5.6 percent year-on-year. Sales of automotive fuel rose for the whole year by 7.5 percent, of non-food goods by 6.8 percent and of food by 3.3 percent. The highest growth was seen in retail sales through internet.
