Czech Republic’s largest retailer Alza announced that it has started accepting bitcoin as a payment option and has installed a bitcoin ATM (BTM) in two of its showrooms in Prague and Bratislava, as reported by a local news media.
The new bitcoin payment option is available for its shoppers to use. All Alza stores across Europe in the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Austria, Germany, and the Great Britain as well as on Alzashop.com are accepting the digital currency through Bitcoinpay.
“Prague is already one of the most important centers of bitcoin in Europe. The introduction of trading in bitcoin going to meet the growing popularity of this form of payment and the potential of new technologies,” Jan Sadílek, Alza’s Head of Internet Marketing, stated (loosely translated).
The two BTM in Prague at Czech Republic and Bratislava at Slovakia allows customers to buy bitcoin for crowns or euros, and vice versa, bitcoin.com reported.
The announcement follows after Russian online retailer Ulmart announced that it will start accepting bitcoin as a payment option from 1st September, 2017. The news media reported that Alza is planning to add various other user-friendly cryptocurrencies in the future such as litecoin or ethereum.
