DICK'S Sporting Goods and Foot Locker plan to hire more than 11,000 seasonal workers for the 2026 holiday season, adding staff across eight retail banners for the shopping period.
DICK'S expects about 8,400 hires at Public Lands, Going Going Gone!, DICK'S House of Sport and DICK'S Sporting Goods. Foot Locker estimates about 2,900 hires at North American stores, including Champs Sports, WSS, Kids Foot Locker and Foot Locker. The company announcement gives approximate figures for each group and a combined target above 11,000, rather than an exact total.
Recruitment will include DICK'S ninth annual “National Signing Day” on Wednesday, Oct. 21. Participating locations will host interviews and let applicants meet store leaders. DICK'S said it would continue recruiting after the event while seasonal roles remain open. A DICK'S House of Sport event listing in Tampa schedules that location's event from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. ET.
DICK'S described the seasonal jobs as support for holiday shopping and customer service. Julie Lodge-Jarrett, DICK'S executive vice president and chief people, purpose and transformation officer, said seasonal workers bring “passion and team spirit” to its stores.
Seasonal employees will receive hourly pay and discounts at participating brands, DICK'S said. The announcement did not state specific wage rates. After 30 days of employment, workers can access DICK'S 401(k) plan, which includes a company match that is fully vested immediately.
The company said its U.S. stores and distribution centers will close on Thanksgiving, Nov. 26, while online shopping will remain available. Retail locations are scheduled to reopen on Black Friday, Nov. 27.
For the 2025 holiday season, DICK'S announced a plan for approximately 14,000 seasonal hires, including about 4,750 at Foot Locker banners in North America. The 2026 announcement does not explain the difference between the plans, and its estimates do not establish an exact year-over-year change.
