The Democratic Socialists of America plans to begin a campaign for a broad arms embargo on Israel on Oct. 29, naming United Airlines and Twenty-Six Defense as initial targets.
The group's National Arms Embargo Organizing Committee is arranging the online launch with the Palestinian Youth Movement and US Campaign for Palestinian Rights. The call is set for 8:30 p.m. EDT Thursday, Oct. 29. The Federal Election Commission lists Nov. 3, 2026, as the midterm election date, five days later.
DSA says the campaign will seek to pressure companies involved in making or transporting military equipment and mobilize workers, unions and communities around selected parts of those supply chains. It identifies United as a transport target and Elbit Systems Ltd.’s U.S. operations as a production target. The company said the segment would operate as Twenty-Six Defense, with Elbit America remaining its subsidiary.
DSA's event page alleges United transported almost 3,000 consignments of military cargo to Israel and Elbit Systems between June 2025 and March 2026. A separate report by the Movement Research Unit, Palestinian Youth Movement, People's Embargo for Palestine and DSA counted at least 2,761 cargo movements across 160 passenger flights operated by United from July 24, 2025, through Feb. 27, 2026. The reports cover different periods.
The Intercept said it examined some cargo records but its review did not verify every claim in the joint report. The outlet reported that United declined to comment on its September inquiry, while Elbit Systems, Lockheed Martin and Israel's Ministry of Defense did not respond.
Elbit Systems Ltd. said Sept. 9 that its U.S. operating segment would take the Twenty-Six Defense name. The company said the Elbit America brand would continue under Twenty-Six Defense as a subsidiary.
The campaign follows a separate effort launched by DSA's National Labor Commission in May 2025, which focused on union activity around U.S. ports and airports used for military shipments.
