The Depository Trust & Clearing Corporation (DTCC) plans to connect its securities tokenization service to Canton Network and Hyperledger Besu, with no stated role for XRP despite Ripple Prime’s working group membership.
DTCC lists Canton and Besu as expected connections at launch. Its published plan does not identify XRP or the XRP Ledger as part of the service. Ripple Prime’s participation in development does not establish that the service will generate demand for XRP.
An EconoTimes market snapshot from Oct. 20 cited CoinGecko data that put XRP at $1.30 at 12:57 a.m. ET (04:57 UTC). That was a recorded price at the time of the earlier snapshot.
Ripple Prime was among the more than 50 firms on DTCC’s May 4 industry working group list. The planned service would create digital versions of eligible securities held by DTCC’s subsidiary, The Depository Trust Company (DTC). DTCC says the group is helping develop the service.
DTCC converted DTC-held securities into tokens on Canton Network and Hyperledger Besu during a July 15 production event. Participants then completed transactions involving tokenized U.S. Treasurys and equities, including Treasury repurchase agreements. The transactions preceded the planned rollout of the broader service.
DTC’s authorization covers selected Russell 1000 shares, exchange-traded funds tracking major indexes and U.S. Treasury securities. DTCC says participant demand will determine which eligible securities are available first. It says using multiple chains is intended to support resilience and scalability while giving participants a choice of networks.
DTCC says the service may give participants access to new liquidity pools and greater flexibility. It has also announced plans to make DTC-held assets available on Stellar, with that work targeted for the first half of 2027.
DTCC expects to launch the service in October 2026, but has not specified a day.
