Senegal is staging the 2026 Youth Olympic Games across Dakar, Diamniadio and Saly, marking the first Olympic sporting event on African soil, the International Olympic Committee says.

The IOC expects 2,655 athletes ages 14 to 17 to compete. It also allocated approximately 2,700 athlete quota places; that figure refers to available places rather than the expected number of participants.

The Games are scheduled for Oct. 31-Nov. 13, with baseball5 competition beginning Oct. 30 ahead of the opening ceremony, according to the IOC.
