An attack at King Fahd International Airport in Dammam killed two people and injured eight Wednesday, Saudi Arabia’s aviation authority said, as Civil Defense lifted a separate warning in Najran.

The General Authority of Civil Aviation said Thursday, Oct. 22, that the attack occurred Wednesday, Oct. 21. It did not specify the nature of the attack. The authority later said airport operations had resumed.

Civil Defense said it sent the Najran warning through the National Early Warning Platform in Emergencies. A later notice said the risk had passed, but gave no reason for the alert. The agency urged residents to continue following safety guidance and avoid gathering in affected areas.
