‘Daredevil’ season 3 main actor Charlie Cox revealed that the show may tie in with ‘The Defenders’. Meanwhile, it was speculated that Elektra may be making a comeback after being resurrected from the dead.
According to Screen Crush, Cox teased during Wizard World Chicago Comic-Con that the incoming season will share continuity with another Netflix property. He said, “Going into The Defenders, Matt is going to have to learn that he needs help, that he can't do all this alone. And that said, maybe some teamwork is going to actually be beneficial. So, whatever lessons he learns in The Defenders will then play into I think Season 3 and how he goes forward from there.”
It was speculated that Cox’s Matt Murdock a.k.a. Daredevil will have to call in more superhero backup including old friend and ally Frank Castle a.k.a. The Punisher to combat impending threats. Murdock attempted to take on the responsibility of saving Hell’s Kitchen all by himself but it’s possible that he will be more open to some team work.
Meanwhile, according to Cinema Blend, ‘The Defenders’ is expected to commence production sometime by the end of the year. This will coincide with filming the follow-up seasons of ‘Daredevil’ and ‘Jessica Jones’. A ‘The Punisher’ standalone series is also speculated to premiere sometime in 2017.
According to Chatt Sports Net, Marvel's head of TV Jeph Loeb officially announced the return of ‘Daredevil’ at the San Diego Comic-Con 2016. Although no specific plot details have been provided, it was speculated that Matt’s dangerous ex-girlfriend Elektra will be reappearing on the show.
Elodie Yung portrayed Elektra Natchios, a highly-skilled assassin who was trained under Stick. The character appeared for 10 episodes on the series. She was last seen sacrificing herself for Matt during a rooftop battle with Nobu Yoshioka and members of The Hand.
It was speculated that Elektra will somehow be resurrected from the dead since Stick previously revealed to Matt that immortality was possible by means of resurrection. Elektra may return as one of season 3’s villains since The Hand previously told her that she was their weapon called Black Sky.
Meanwhile, Matt’s old nemesis Bullseye may finally make an appearance in the incoming season although it is yet to be confirmed. In the original Marvel comic books, Bullseye is an assassin-for-hire who has worked with other villains including Kingpin and Mysterio. Although he possesses no real superpowers, he is an expert marksman, acrobat and master martial artist.
‘Daredevil’ is a crime-drama and superhero television series produced by Marvel Television in association with ABC Studios. It was created for Netflix by Drew Goddard and based on the Marvel comic book character of the same name. Season 3 was renewed by the Network on July 2016.
