SAN FRANCISCO, Sept. 13, 2017 -- Databricks, provider of the leading Unified Analytics Platform and founded by the team who created Apache Spark™, today announced Jer Thorp as a keynote speaker at the Spark Summit Europe event in October. Thorp, best known for bringing information to life by combining data science with a love of colorful design through his ever-popular “Cascade” tool, will present his session about “Living in data” during the Summit. Thorp will build on his experiences as National Geographic Explorer, NYU Adjunct Professor and Data-Artist-in-Residence at The New York Times. He will be providing insight into how people can understand the data they create every day, how data affects culture and how this new avalanche of information can be used to improve life for everyone.
Spark Summit Europe, which takes place in Dublin, Ireland October 24-26, is the leading event for data scientists, data engineers and business professionals around data, analytics and artificial intelligence. More than 1,200 attendees at the Summit will attend three days’ worth of training sessions, presentations and networking events. Key themes for this year’s Spark Summit Europe include machine learning and deep learning, streaming applications and discussions on industry use cases and best practices for Spark deployments.
