Sen. Flavio Bolsonaro edged President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva by one point in a Datafolha survey, underscoring how narrowly the candidates are separated before Brazil’s presidential runoff.
Datafolha’s Oct. 22 results showed Bolsonaro at 47% and Lula at 46%, a difference smaller than the poll’s 2-percentage-point margin of error in either direction.
The survey’s fieldwork ran Oct. 20-22 and included 2,154 respondents. Five percent said they would cast blank ballots, while 2% were undecided.
Bolsonaro remained at 47% from the prior week’s Datafolha poll, while Lula gained one point from 45%. Two polls issued Tuesday also showed Bolsonaro in front, as EconoTimes previously reported.
Brazil’s runoff is scheduled for Oct. 25.
