BYD's premium Denza brand is expected to enter India on Nov. 13, according to media reports, but its local lineup, powertrains and prices remain unconfirmed.
Denza India's LinkedIn posts announce the brand's arrival but omit a date. Autocar India attributes Nov. 13 to BYD, while NDTV Auto has also reported that day.
Autocar India and NDTV Auto have identified the D9 luxury multipurpose vehicle (MPV) and Z9 GT shooting brake as possible early displays in India. The reports expect them to be among Denza's first models shown, though the company has not confirmed either for sale in the country. Autocar India and NDTV Profit have also drawn a comparison between the D9 and the MG M9.
Overseas specifications show why those reports do not settle what India will get. Denza Australia lists a seven-seat, all-electric D9 with a 103.36-kWh battery. Its stated range is 520 km for the front-wheel-drive version and 480 km for the all-wheel-drive version under the WLTC test cycle. BYD's European materials cover a plug-in hybrid D9 DM-i, and the India powertrain has not been announced.
For Europe, BYD lists the electric Z9GT's maximum system output at 1,156 PS (850 kW). The company gives the car a 2.7-second time to accelerate from a standstill to 100 km/h, and lists a 122.49-kWh battery and 600 km of WLTP range. Those are European specifications, not confirmed India figures.
Reports from NDTV Auto, NDTV Profit and Autocar India estimate the D9 at ₹85 lakh to ₹90 lakh and the Z9 GT at ₹1.2 crore to ₹1.5 crore; BYD has announced no India prices. Autocar India expects the Nov. 13 event to bring further details on Denza's products and retail plans for India.
