Ethereum’s issuance policy will be debated at Devcon 8 in Mumbai on Wednesday, Nov. 4, putting a proposal to change Ether issuance on the agenda of the four-day conference.
Devcon’s program lists the Issuance roundtable for 1:30-2:25 p.m. Mumbai time Wednesday, Nov. 4 (3-3:55 a.m. ET; 8-8:55 a.m. UTC). The listing says the session will present arguments on both sides of changing Ethereum’s issuance policy.
Devcon 8 is set for Tuesday, Nov. 3, through Friday, Nov. 6, at Mumbai’s Jio World Centre. The official schedule allocates 150 minutes to the opening ceremony, from 11 p.m. ET Monday, Nov. 2, to 1:30 a.m. ET Tuesday, Nov. 3 (4-6:30 a.m. UTC Tuesday; 9:30 a.m.-noon in Mumbai). Devcon describes the gathering as bringing together developers, researchers and community members to discuss blockchain advances and challenges.
The program’s speaker list includes Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin. A Bitwise estimate put fresh Ether issuance’s contribution to Ethereum’s average gross annualized staking yield at 96.3% for the third quarter of 2026, according to earlier EconoTimes coverage of issuance’s share in staking yield.
