A prior EconoTimes update on offshore-yuan trading described a firmer yuan on Oct. 19 and put the dollar at 6.67992, 0.1% below the previous session's close.
At 8 p.m. ET Tuesday, the dollar was quoted at 158.494 yen, down 0.12%, and 6.66656 offshore yuan, down 0.05%.
The dollar also rose 0.19% against the yen; a later snapshot put Bitcoin and Ether lower over 24 hours.
The dollar opened at 1,346.0 won, then fell 5.0 won by the close.
