Funds tied to the Drift Protocol exploit entered Tornado Cash on Oct. 20 in a transfer of 25,710 Ether (ETH), valued at about $61.24 million. Tornado Cash, an Ethereum privacy service, makes deposited funds harder to trace.
The post-transfer balance for the wallet used in the deposits was 81,454 ETH, valued at about $194 million. EconoTimes’ earlier coverage put the attacker’s remaining holdings at 81,864 ETH, 410 ETH more; that earlier figure described attacker-linked holdings, while the current figure refers to the depositing wallet. The Oct. 20 transfer total is 10 ETH above the 25,700 ETH figure in EconoTimes’ earlier coverage of the transfer.
Roughly $285 million was taken from Drift in early April. The assets taken in the exploit were exchanged for 131,564 ETH at an average conversion price of $2,154 per token. An earlier July transfer accounted for 24,400 ETH tied to the exploit, making the July and October Tornado Cash transfers 50,110 ETH.
Drift Protocol operates a trading platform on Solana.
