Dubai is asserting itself as a global business hub, continuing to showcase its many strong points. It's really only been in the past few years that Dubai has managed to build this reputation for itself, thanks to plenty of planning, hard work, and growth, not just in the economy but in infrastructure, too.
A Well-Thought Out Process
While some cities just kind of fall into becoming a type of global hub, Dubai has worked quite hard to get to this point. One look at the cityscape and you can see just how much work has been done over the past few years. You look at some cities and it can take five years or more just to complete one office tower, then you look at Dubai and it’s as though a highly modern city has been built in less than a decade. This didn’t happen by accident of course; there was purpose and planning.
Take a look at the retail market, where Dubai has now been named the world's second most important hub. It currently houses 57% of international retailers, which puts London just slightly ahead with 57.9%. One can only imagine it won't take long for Dubai to pull ahead with numbers like that.
It's no secret that Dubai has positioned itself to be a major connecting point for trade, relations, and deals between the East and the West of the globe, not just in retail but in many other sectors as well.
Infrastructure Supports the Designation
In order for a city to really excel and become an international hub for business, it needs to be more than just a happening place where deals are concerned. The infrastructure plays an important role in the designation. There needs to be buildings/spaces that attract global conferences, meetings, seminars, and exhibitions. This is another area that Dubai has excelled in.
Those in town for business have an incredible array of luxurious Dubai hotels and conference spaces to choose from, that offer all the amenities they could possibly need to conduct their business dealings. Of course, the Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC) is the premier place for conferences and exhibitions. It hosts more than 50% of the conferences that take place, not just in Dubai, but in the entire Middle East.
Tourists are Also Flooding In
Along with those setting up business or simply conducting meetings in Dubai, tourists are now also flooding in. Word has spread like wildfire on all Dubai has to offer. Dubai has now been named one of the safest and fastest growing tourist destinations and it excels in offering luxurious, unique, and even high-thrill attractions and activities.
Hanging Tight to its Designation
Dubai isn’t showing any signs of letting go of its global business hub designation, as there seems to be more plans in place to expand infrastructure, the retail presence, the tourist market, and of course plans to attract even more international companies to set up shop in Dubai.
