Egypt, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates discussed regional de-escalation with a Türkiye-led mediation mechanism in focus, Anadolu Agency reported, adding to diplomacy involving several regional governments.

Earlier EconoTimes coverage of the eight-country Istanbul meeting said ministers from Türkiye, Egypt, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, France, Germany, Italy and the United Kingdom met there on Oct. 23.

The R4 countries — Türkiye, Egypt, Pakistan and Saudi Arabia — also issued a separate statement. It criticized Houthi attacks, called for an end to the group’s military operations and urged a return to political talks.
