Democratic Senate nominee Abdul El-Sayed made his promise of free health care the centerpiece of a Detroit rally, France 24 reported, as Michigan voters prepare to choose an open U.S. Senate seat.
France 24 placed the event at Detroit’s Majestic Theatre and described large audiences at El-Sayed’s campaign stops across the state. The report identified him as a physician who has also worked in health care administration.
El-Sayed faces Republican Senate nominee Mike Rogers. The Associated Press has reported that the result could affect which party controls the Senate. On Monday, El-Sayed also urged voters to turn out at an event at Eastern Michigan University in Ypsilanti, the AP reported.
EconoTimes previously covered the candidates’ final-day campaign appeals. The Michigan Secretary of State’s election calendar lists Tuesday, Nov. 3, as the general election date, with early voting scheduled from Oct. 24 through Nov. 1.
