‘Elementary’ season 5’s episode 13, titled “Over A Barrel,” will follow Sherlock as he races to save Joan from an imminent death after she is taken hostage by a crazed kidnapper threatening to kill off his hostages if his demands are not met in time.
The synopsis for “Over A Barrel” posted on TV Guide reads, “A kidnapper threatens to start executing his hostages, including Joan (Lucy Liu), unless Sherlock (Jonny Lee Miller) finds the person responsible for his son's death within the next 16 hours, when the statute of limitations on the crime runs out.”
In the promo, a man barges into a diner with a rifle and takes everyone inside hostage. Unfortunately, he has taken Joan as his prime targets before warning Sherlock, “Your partner dies with everybody else if you don’t deliver.” Sherlock will need to work on completing the task within 16 hours to prevent unnecessary multiple deaths including Joan’s.
When Sherlock pleads for the kidnapper to give his team more time, the man outright refuses and continues terrorizing his hostages as they scream for their lives.
It seems that the incoming episode will be an action-packed event as Sherlock gambles to take on a difficult task under extreme time pressure. According to Christian Post, the man who manages to abduct the diner is a desperate father seeking to fast-track an investigation over his son’s murder, which was left unsolved.
Fully aware that the statute of limitations on the murder of his son is slowly running out with each hour that passes, the man will coerce the police to find his son’s killer by threatening to murder innocent people should they fail to bring him the culprit.
‘Elementary’ season 5’s episode 13, titled “Over A Barrel,” is scheduled to air on CBS on January 29, 2017. Guy Ferland directed the episode written by Jeffrey Paul King.
