‘Empire’ season 3’s episode 7, entitled "What We May Be", will feature new revelations about Cookie’s past. Meanwhile, Cookie is set to host a family dinner with Angelo’s mother but things spin out of control after Lucious crashes the party.
The synopsis for “What We May Be” posted on TV Guide reads, “Cookie (Taraji P. Henson) turns to Candace (Vivica A. Fox) for help planning an elaborate family dinner that will impress Angelo's (Taye Diggs) mother;
At the same time, old home videos from Cookie's childhood force her to face the truth about her father. Meanwhile, Andre (Trai Byers) plans an unlikely duo.”
The promo for episode 7 opens with Cookie reminiscing the past with her father. She says, “My daddy was my life… until I met Lucious.” It seems that the incoming episode may delve deeper into Cookie and Lucious complicated relationship. It will also focus on her life moving forward with Angelo.
In another teaser video, Jussie Smollet explained that more revelations about Cookie’s past with her siblings as well as their father will help viewers understand the character better. Smollet plays Jamal, the talented gay singer-songwriter son of Lucious and Cookie.
According to Gossip On This, Jamal manages to find old videos of Cookie and her family, which he plans to use on a song he is working on to get back to the music scene following the traumatic shooting incident.
In the video, Cookie gets upset while watching the old videos. She tells Jamal, “No! Stop it! Jamal, shut this thing! Shut it down.” When Jamal asks Cookie what was bothering her, she replies, “You can’t use those videos. You had no right digging that stuff up!”
Meanwhile, Cookie is set to meet Angelo’s mother for the first time. Despite’s her best efforts to host a grand dinner, Lucious will spoil it all by adding some drama in the mix. Lucious crashes the dinner with his new wife Anika and introduces his own dysfunctional children.
‘Empire’ season 3’s episode 7, entitled "What We May Be", is scheduled to air on Fox on November 30, 2016. It will be followed by episode 8, entitled "The Unkindest Cut", scheduled for December 7.
