President Recep Tayyip Erdogan used Türkiye’s Republic Day message to connect national unity with the country’s development agenda, citing work in diplomacy, defense, energy and transportation.
In a video message Thursday marking the anniversary, Erdogan said wars and crises continued in Türkiye’s region and elsewhere. He said the country would keep working for peace and justice.
Erdogan cited the independence struggle under Mustafa Kemal Ataturk as an example of what national unity could accomplish despite severe hardship. He said the resolve shown during that period still motivates the country.
The president pointed to 24 years of work in defense, energy, transportation and diplomacy, saying those efforts were helping build a more prosperous and influential Türkiye. He said the country’s 86 million people would come together around shared values to make the Türkiye Century vision a reality.
