Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said the Turkic world could become a major trade, transport and energy hub, with the Middle Corridor shaping future trade.
Erdogan made the remarks Friday at the Organization of Turkic States’ 13th summit in Ankara. The leaders’ meeting followed the Council of Foreign Ministers’ talks on Oct. 29, according to the organization’s summit schedule. The gathering’s theme was “Turkic Century: Unity in Language, Thought and Deed.”
Erdogan said peace and stability in the South Caucasus could bring significant opportunities to countries there and throughout the Turkic world. He said Türkiye hoped renewed tensions with Iran would be settled through diplomacy rather than arms.
On Gaza, he urged Turkic states to work toward a just outcome for Palestinians and take part in humanitarian relief and reconstruction. He also voiced support for stronger ties between the Turkic States Council and the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, while calling for unity among Turkic states.
Before the summit, Erdogan spoke of a shared “Turkish Century” for Turkic states in earlier remarks on the vision.
