Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan urged stronger ties with South Korea at a Seoul dinner, as the leaders discussed nuclear financing and broader defense cooperation.
South Korean President Lee Jae-myung hosted the dinner at the Presidential Palace on Tuesday. Erdogan attended with his wife, Emine Erdogan, during his official visit, the Directorate of Communications said. He said he was pleased to return to South Korea after eight years.
Erdogan linked closer relations to prosperity for citizens and peace worldwide, according to the official transcript of his remarks. He also cited contact between the countries spanning more than 1,000 years and a historic connection dating back 76 years.
Earlier Tuesday, the leaders discussed financing for Turkish nuclear projects and broader defense-industry cooperation. Türkiye Nuclear Energy Inc.
