Coinglass data placed Ether (ETH) options open interest at $5.86 billion in the Oct. 17 snapshot, as calls accounted for most open positions and trading.
The reading marked a 2.32% decline from the prior day. In the Oct. 16 snapshot, Coinglass put open interest at $6 billion, a figure EconoTimes covered in its Oct. 16 report on Ether options. Open interest counts contracts that remain outstanding, so it captures accumulated positions rather than trades made during one session.
Calls represented 62.25% of Ether options open interest, while puts made up 37.75%. The daily volume split was narrower: calls were 56.6% and puts 43.4%.
Deribit contracts had the largest open-interest totals: calls at $3,200 and $2,200, both expiring Dec. 25, followed by a $2,600 call expiring Oct. 30.
Bybit's $2,700 call was the most traded contract, ahead of the exchange's Oct. 19 $2,750 call and Deribit's Oct. 30 $2,600 call. The top contract expires Sunday, Oct. 18.
