Short positions in Ether (ETH) made up $27.21 million of $28.31 million in liquidations across Binance, Bybit and OKX during an hour when the asset rose 1.80%.

Public liquidation records from the three exchanges put long-position liquidations at $1.10 million over the same period. The hour ended at 8:02 p.m. ET on Oct. 20 (00:02 UTC on Oct. 21), with Ether rising from $2,419 to $2,462.

Short positions benefit when prices fall, while long positions benefit when they rise. The liquidation totals reflect activity on Binance, Bybit and OKX only; they exclude other exchanges.

A separate one-hour reading earlier on Oct. 20 recorded $8.24 million in Ether short liquidations and $240,000 in long liquidations across the same exchanges. That period ended at 10:02 a.m. ET (14:02 UTC), when Binance spot prices had risen 1.26% over the hour.
