Coinglass’ Oct. 30 snapshot puts Ether (ETH) options open interest at $5.32 billion, with $2.43 billion traded in 24 hours as calls held a larger share of open contracts than of turnover.

Coinglass reported a 15.62% drop from $6.31 billion in the prior snapshot. Calls made up 63.67% of open interest, while puts accounted for 36.33%. Across the latest 24-hour period, calls represented 56.39% of volume and puts 43.61%.

In Coinglass’ volume ranking, Bybit’s $2,600 call due Sunday, Nov. 1, was first. Deribit’s $2,000 put expiring Nov. 13 placed second, followed by another Bybit $2,600 call expiring Saturday, Oct. 31. These rankings identify the contracts that generated the most trading during the data window.

For open interest, Deribit’s $3,200 call due Dec. 25 held the top spot, followed by its $2,200 and $2,300 calls, which share the same expiry. The data therefore rank different contracts first depending on whether the measure is outstanding interest or recent turnover.

Open interest describes the pool of contracts that remain outstanding at a snapshot; volume tallies trading over a defined period. The first measure tracks the stock of open positions, while the second records the flow of activity during 24 hours. Their call and put shares compare accumulated positions with one day’s activity, but do not reveal whether a specific trade was a hedge or a directional bet.

A call gives its holder an option to buy Ether at a predetermined price; a put gives its holder an option to sell. Traders may use options to gain leveraged exposure to price moves or to hedge other positions. Each listed contract pairs an exchange with a price level and an expiry date.

An Oct. 23 EconoTimes report on Ether options cited a separate Coinglass open-interest reading of $6.04 billion. Among the leading contracts, the earliest expiry is Bybit’s Saturday, Oct. 31, call.
