Ether options open interest dropped 9.30% to $5.30 billion in Coinglass’ Nov. 1 reading, while a near-even split in trading volume contrasted with the heavier call share of open contracts.
The snapshot, recorded at 7:20 a.m. ET (12:20 UTC), put open interest at $5.30 billion, against $5.85 billion a day earlier. Calls made up 62.74% of open contracts and puts 37.26%. Calls accounted for 51.86% of the $460.68 million in trading volume, with puts at 48.14%.
Bybit’s $1,900 put, expiring Nov. 2, topped trading by individual contract. Binance and OKX each had a $2,300 call expiring on the same date among the next two volume leaders. Deribit contracts occupied the top three places in open interest: a Dec. 25 $3,200 call, a Dec. 25 $2,200 call and a Nov. 13 $2,000 put.
Open interest tracks positions still active, while volume counts contracts traded during the period. Options can be used for hedging or directional positions, so the aggregate figures do not establish traders’ intentions. A prior EconoTimes report on Ether options put open interest at $5.77 billion on Oct. 26. The leading Bybit contract is due to expire Nov. 2.
