An Oct. 21 price rise in Ether (ETH) coincided with $14.5 million in short liquidations across three exchanges, representing nearly the entire $14.58 million total for the hour.

Long positions accounted for the remaining $80,000, putting short liquidations at about 181 times the long amount. The one-hour period ended at 9:10 a.m. ET (13:10 UTC).

Ether rose $16 during that period, moving from $2,469 to $2,485, a 0.65% gain. The tally includes Binance, Bybit and OKX; it is not a marketwide total.

A separate one-hour reading on Oct. 20 recorded $8.24 million in Ether short liquidations and $240,000 in long liquidations across the same exchanges. That earlier hour ended at 10:02 a.m. ET (14:02 UTC), when Ether’s Binance spot price had risen 1.26% over the period. Shorts accounted for most liquidations in both readings, with a larger short-side amount and a smaller long-side amount on Oct. 21.
