The European Commission said it will convene representatives from Ukraine, the United States and European allies in Brussels on Wednesday, ahead of planned U.S.-led talks involving Russia next week.
Reuters reported that a source familiar with the plans expects the Nov. 4 meeting to address a prosperity plan and security guarantees for Ukraine. Commission spokeswoman Paula Pinho said the Brussels session would follow up on earlier talks in Miami.
Representatives from France, Germany, the United Kingdom, NATO and the World Bank will also attend, Pinho said.
The Commission previously said it was prepared to join Ukraine talks if Russia engaged in substantive discussions. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has also said Europe should take part in talks involving Ukraine, Russia and the United States.
U.S. envoy Steve Witkoff said Washington plans to bring Russian and Ukrainian representatives together in Abu Dhabi on Nov. 10-11. He said those talks would cover ending the war, security agreements after the fighting and steps to reduce tensions.
