Eurostat, the statistical office of the European Union, said euro-area industrial producer prices rose 11.1% year over year in September, with energy prices up 30.8% and prices excluding energy up 3.5%.

The overall index climbed 2.5% from August, when it rose 2.0% month over month. Eurostat revised August’s monthly increase from 1.9% and its annual increase from 8.2% to 8.3%.

Energy prices rose 7.8% from August. Excluding energy, producer prices increased 0.1% month over month, alongside the 3.5% annual gain.

Eurostat’s index measures prices producers receive for goods sold in domestic markets and excludes imports. The annual and monthly rates compare September prices with those a year earlier and in August, respectively.

Eurostat’s next producer-price release is scheduled for Dec. 3.
