A collision between helicopters operated by Fishtail Air and Dynasty Air in the Mount Everest base camp area killed an Indian national and injured a New Zealander during Nepal’s peak trekking season, Reuters reported.

Kaman Singh Thapa Magar, Solukhumbu district’s chief district officer, told Reuters the New Zealander had been rescued. A Fishtail Air official said the Indian and New Zealand passengers were tourists.

Fishtail Air said the aircraft went down on landing after transporting people rescued in the Everest region. A Dynasty Air official said the other helicopter was carrying only cargo.

During the trekking season, helicopter services are among the ways hikers and climbers travel in the region.
