Central Depository Services (India) Ltd. (CDSL) data show foreign portfolio investors (FPIs) net sold ₹48,056.33 crore (₹480.56 billion) of Indian equities through Oct. 23, across 15 reporting-date entries, ahead of scheduled policy and economic releases.
The total adds CDSL's equity subtotals for reporting dates from Oct. 1 through Oct. 23. Its FPI data include stock-exchange activity, primary-market transactions and other activity. Custodians provide confirmed trade information that may include transactions from earlier sessions, so a reporting date may differ from the date a trade took place. The total therefore captures more than exchange-traded sales alone.
For the Oct. 23 reporting date, CDSL's equity tally showed net purchases of ₹154.97 crore. Exchange transactions recorded net sales of ₹2,262.17 crore, while the “primary market & others” category had net purchases of ₹2,417.14 crore.
Separately, the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA) reported that Brent crude's September spot-price average was $114 a barrel, $23 above August. The agency linked the monthly rise to attacks affecting oil facilities and tanker traffic in the Middle East. EIA's daily series listed Brent at $115.22 a barrel on Oct. 20.
The Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) reported that FPIs were net sellers in every trading session in March 2026, with ₹117,775 crore in net equity sales. EconoTimes previously covered SEBI's March 2026 FPI outflow data.
