FXStreet reported EUR/USD below $1.1150 in early European trading Thursday, close to its lowest level since May 2025; official schedules placed U.S. economic releases before the ECB’s policy decision.
The U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis (BEA) scheduled its advance estimate of third-quarter 2026 GDP and its September Personal Income and Outlays report for 8:30 a.m. EDT (12:30 UTC). That is 45 minutes before the ECB’s scheduled decision at 9:15 a.m. EDT (13:15 UTC). A news conference was set for 9:45 a.m. EDT (13:45 UTC).
The Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) voted 10-2 Wednesday to keep the federal funds target range at 3.75%-4%. Federal Reserve Governor Lisa D. Cook and Cleveland Fed President Beth M. Hammack favored a 25-basis-point increase. The committee’s statement said inflation remained elevated.
The ECB raised its three key rates by 25 basis points on Sept. 10, effective Sept. 16. The deposit facility rate became 2.50%, the main refinancing rate 2.65% and the marginal lending rate 2.90%. The Governing Council said the conflict in the Middle East was generating inflation pressures. It said future choices would depend on incoming data and remain open.
EconoTimes previously followed the pair ahead of this week’s policy meetings in coverage of the euro near $1.1170. The ECB decision and press conference are scheduled for Thursday morning in the United States.
