Adamawa's All Progressives Congress (APC) has 3,000 people on its campaign council for Nigeria's 2027 election after Gov. Ahmadu Fintiri inaugurated the body, BusinessDay reported, with activity planned across polling units, wards and councils.
The event was held at the state House Banquet Hall in Yola, the outlet said. Fintiri called on members to work for the party's victory at polling units, wards and councils and cautioned them against anti-party activity. He said the council brought together experience and broad representation from across Adamawa.
Ahmed Galadima, the APC's governorship candidate in Adamawa, said the council included people from the state's senatorial zones and communities. He praised Fintiri's planning and said he would build on the governor's record. Retired Brig. Gen. Buba Marwa, a co-chairman, urged members to maintain peace and cooperation.
Adamawa APC Chairman Hamza Madagali described the turnout as a sign of unity and commitment. He asked those left off the council to be patient, saying there could be future opportunities for inclusion. Idris Shuaibu, the party's national vice chairman for the North-East, urged members to carry out their duties sincerely, BusinessDay reported.
The outlet also reported that the gathering included defectors from the African Democratic Congress (ADC). Shuaibu presented them to Madagali, who received them.
The inauguration follows Fintiri's earlier appointment to lead Adamawa's 2027 campaign council. The Adamawa State Government said Fintiri announced a political realignment from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) toward the APC on Feb. 27.
