Adamawa Gov. Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri was named chair of the All Progressives Congress’ state campaign council for 2027, putting him at the center of the party’s election effort, Daily Post and Premium Times reported, citing a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Humwashi Wonosikou.

National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) Chairman Mohammed Buba Marwa was named co-chair, the reports said. Deputy Gov. Kaletapwa George Farauta is to serve as Deputy Chairman I, while the party’s Adamawa governorship candidate is designated Deputy Chairman II.

The reports also named Titus Solomon as director general and Peter Kevin as campaign director. Party stalwarts and stakeholders are expected to join youth and women leaders from across the state’s 21 local government areas, according to the reports.

Daily Post reported that the council would coordinate the party’s efforts across the 2027 contests, including the presidential race and State House of Assembly elections. The reports said Fintiri asked council members to coordinate their work in support of APC candidates.

The council announcement follows Fintiri’s Feb. 27 declaration of a political realignment toward the APC, according to the Adamawa State Government. Separately, Adamawa APC Publicity Secretary Victor Dogo said 21 local government chairmen and 226 councillors elected on Peoples Democratic Party tickets had changed party affiliation, a claim covered in EconoTimes’ earlier report on the local officials’ party switches.
