Five shares on the National Stock Exchange of India (NSE) ended Friday, Oct. 23, with rising futures open interest as prices fell, a pairing Strota classifies as short buildup but that does not establish market direction.

A StockEdge futures-and-options scan identified five stocks whose open interest rose more than 7% from the previous trading session. ETMarkets.com reported the scan and gave exact increases of 10.88% each for FSN E-Commerce Ventures (NSE: NYKAA) and Godfrey Phillips India, 10.06% for CG Power and Industrial Solutions, 8.6% for Ujjivan Small Finance Bank and 7.96% for Siemens Energy India.

ETMarkets.com reported FSN’s open interest at 45,315,625, up 4,446,875, and Godfrey Phillips’ at 1,642,300, up 161,150. CG Power reached 25,108,150 after a rise of 2,294,150. Ujjivan stood at 52,048,000, up 4,120,000, while Siemens Energy India reached 906,150, an increase of 66,850. Strota’s separate all-expiries tracker displayed percentage changes of 10.9%, 10.9%, 10.1%, 8.6% and 8.0%, respectively.

The NSE derivatives archive lists final bhavcopy and open-interest reports for Oct. 23. The exact levels and percentage changes above were reported by ETMarkets.com; Strota’s tracker corroborates the percentage moves at one decimal place.

Open interest counts unsettled derivative contracts. NSE Academy material says every futures contract has a long side and a short side. A rise in the total means more positions remained open, but the measure alone does not establish which side has greater conviction. Strota’s short-buildup label reflects its method of pairing rising open interest with falling prices.

EconoTimes previously covered a similar combination in its report on the Oct. 22 session, when Strota’s tracker also showed Siemens Energy India among stocks with rising futures open interest as prices declined.
