Sen. Flavio Bolsonaro said he would contest Brazil’s Oct. 25 presidential result after alleging a court order restricted his travel, refusing to accept President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva’s victory.

In a video posted to Instagram Monday, Bolsonaro said a Supreme Court justice had ordered him to surrender his passports and barred him from leaving Brazil. He described the restriction as an attempt to intimidate him. Bolsonaro’s latest remarks follow EconoTimes’ earlier report on the passport order.

Lula received 51.8% of the vote, while Bolsonaro received 48.2%.

Flavio said comments by his brother, Eduardo Bolsonaro, had become part of the passport dispute. Eduardo, a former lawmaker who lives in the United States, had raised the prospect of Flavio leaving Brazil after an election loss, Flavio said. The senator denied making a promise to leave.

Bolsonaro said he would bring together those opposed to Lula’s government. He also called for the election to be annulled, claiming the extended voting period on Oct. 25 benefited Lula, though he had also requested the measure.
