Detoxification (detox) is the process of ridding the body of drugs or alcohol. Detox is often the first step in addiction treatment and recovery. The physiological makeup of an individual’s body and brain is affected by the abuse of drugs and alcohol; therefore, it is important that those addicted to substances get a professional assessment of his or her physical addiction to determine how he or she will react to having the alcohol or drug being taken away. Individuals who abuse opiates (heroin or painkillers) and alcohol will most likely experience serious physical addiction; therefore, requiring medical detoxification.
A Chicago-based company founded in 2013, Footprints to Recovery already operates Joint Commission-accredited drug and alcohol addiction out-patient treatment centers in Chicago, Hamilton, N.J., and recently opened a state-of-the-art facility in Wayne, Pa. Additional treatment facilities in the Northeast, Midwest and West are scheduled to open over the next few months.
“The Footprints to Recovery brand of substance abuse treatment centers continues to grow with the opening of our new and stunning detox center in Phoenix/Mesa, Arizona,” says Eliott Wolbrom, chief marketing officer of Footprints to Recovery. “Thousands of hours have been invested into making sure every detail of our newest facility – including bringing in the best people in the country to run it - meets the highest and strictest standards of excellence from a clinical, structural and aesthetical perspective.
“As is our mission every day within all our facilities throughout the country,” continues Wolbrom, “we look forward to combating Arizona’s drug and alcohol epidemic by utilizing the finest clinicians and expertly streamlined business operations to bring world-class care to those who need it most.”
Becky Kartagener, LMSW, MSW, is the executive director of Footprints to Recovery’s Arizona facility. She pilots the programs administered by her professional staff and team of board-certified physicians and nurses, who are set to provide an array of proven treatment options to a region in need.
“Like much of the country, the drug and alcohol addiction epidemic we’re facing can look overwhelming at times and has taken such a toll on our communities in Arizona,” says Kartagener. “However, when an organization like Footprints to Recovery decides to call Arizona home, it provides me with hope.”
