After much anticipation, Ford's return to the Indian automotive scene has been a hot topic of discussion. Speculation is rife about the American automaker's comeback with the launch of the new-gen Ford Endeavour, known internationally as Everest. The question on everyone's mind is when this re-entry will take place.
Spotting of New-Gen Ford Endeavour
Recently, a prototype of the new-gen Ford Endeavour was sighted on Indian roads, igniting further excitement. The substantial SUV was seen being transported in Chennai, possibly en route to Ford's manufacturing facility. This development hints at Ford's imminent re-establishment in the Indian market.
Financial Express reported that the spotted prototype proudly displayed the Everest branding, initially hinting at its expected arrival in India as a fully imported model. Alongside the Endeavour, Ford might introduce the Ranger pickup truck to the Indian market. This move has pleasantly surprised Ford enthusiasts, as the Ranger's entry was speculated earlier before the company's exit from India.
Common Underpinnings of Endeavour and Ranger
Both the Endeavour and Ranger share the same body-on-frame chassis globally. Offering a selection of powertrain options, including a 2.0-litre turbo diesel engine, a 2.0-litre bi-turbo diesel engine, and a 3.0-litre V6 turbo diesel engine, these vehicles are set to impress Indian consumers.
Autocar India noted that the Indian versions of these models are expected to feature the 2.0-liter bi-turbo unit and the 3.0-liter V6 turbo power mill, providing impressive performance figures. With engine options paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission, both vehicles promise a smooth driving experience on varied terrains.
Drive Modes and Features
Endeavour and Ranger will offer multiple drive modes tailored for on-road and off-road adventures. From Normal and Eco modes for city driving to Mud/Ruts and Sand modes for off-road escapades, these SUVs are designed to tackle diverse environments easily.
Expected Pricing and Availability
As both the Endeavour and Ranger are likely fully integrated units, they are expected to be positioned in the premium segment. Limited availability and competitive pricing are anticipated, especially considering the potential rivalry with the Toyota Hilux upon Ranger's launch.
