LG Corp and Nvidia have signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to deepen their strategic partnership across robotics, AI factories and next-generation mobility, LG announced Friday.
The agreement will combine LG’s manufacturing and technology capabilities with Nvidia’s artificial intelligence and computing platforms as the South Korean conglomerate accelerates its adoption of AI-powered automation.
A key part of the partnership is the development of a next-generation bipedal humanoid robot powered by Nvidia Isaac GR00T, a foundation model designed for humanoid robotics. LG plans to unveil the new robot in the first quarter of 2027, marking another step in its push toward intelligent robotics and automated manufacturing.
Before then, LG will begin testing a wheel-based robot at a washing machine production line at its Tennessee facility. The deployment, scheduled for this year, will serve as a proof of concept for using advanced robots in real-world manufacturing environments.
LG and Nvidia are also expanding their collaboration in AI infrastructure. LG plans to establish an AI factory reference site powered by Nvidia’s Vera Rubin platform during the first half of 2027. The company intends to further expand the facility in South Korea to a capacity of 80 megawatts in the first half of 2028.
The project could provide LG with substantial computing resources for developing, training and deploying increasingly sophisticated AI applications across its businesses.
Mobility is another major focus of the expanded partnership. LG plans to develop a next-generation AI-defined vehicle platform using Nvidia DRIVE Hyperion, Nvidia’s architecture for autonomous and intelligent vehicles.
The collaboration highlights LG’s broader effort to integrate artificial intelligence into manufacturing, robotics and automotive technologies. For Nvidia, the partnership further extends the use of its AI computing ecosystem beyond data centers and into factories, robots and vehicles.
With projects scheduled through 2028, the LG-Nvidia partnership positions both companies to capitalize on growing demand for physical AI, smart manufacturing, humanoid robots and AI-powered mobility.
