A 2026 forecast puts climate-specialist fundraising below $1 billion, which would be the first such annual total since 2015, after six funds had raised $546 million by Aug. 18.

The $546 million is a snapshot, not a final 2026 tally. The figures do not show whether the six funds raised additional capital after Aug. 18. The below-$1 billion projection concerns specialist-fund fundraising, not money invested in companies.

Climate-specialist funds raised $3.9 billion in 2025, 39.7% less than in 2024. The 2021 total was $10.5 billion, with 85 funds raising capital. The Aug. 18, 2026, snapshot covers six funds, so the counts are not like-for-like annual totals.

A separate measure tracked financing received by businesses. Climate-tech companies attracted $40.5 billion in venture and growth investment in 2025, up 8% from 2024. Deal count declined 18% to 1,545 over the same period.

Energy accounted for $14.4 billion of company investment, a 31% increase and the category’s highest total in three years.

The totals describe different stages of financing. The fund figure tracks capital raised by specialist investment funds; the company figure covers venture and growth investment received by climate-tech businesses across the market. The company total cannot be assigned to climate-specialist funds based on these figures, and it covers 2025 rather than the 2026 fundraising snapshot.

The data show different movements across the two measures: specialist-fund fundraising fell in 2025, while company investment grew even as deal count dropped. They do not identify the investors behind company financing or establish a causal link between the trends. No company-level investment total for 2026 is included.
