CLEARWATER, Fla., Sept. 22, 2016 -- On September 17th, volunteers from the Foundation for a Drug Free World (FDFW), a non-profit organization supported by the Church of Scientology, distributed educational materials on answers and solutions to drugs. Going door to door over the past four weeks, they provided over 1,300 Truth About Drugs booklets to the Clearwater community.

One of the neighborhoods that the FDFW volunteers covered was North Greenwood. While distributing Truth About Drugs booklets there, they came across a resident who happened to work at a local school. The resident told the volunteers, “The children really need these materials. I will take these to the school administrator to see how best to distribute them.”
“Wherever we go, people are interested in finding out more about our program. We provide our materials to those who need them, free of charge, so that they can successfully prevent youth from making the wrong decisions,” said Joe Creek, Foundation for a Drug Free World volunteer. “Scientology Founder, L. Ron Hubbard said, ‘The single most destructive element present in our current culture is drugs.’”
Truth About Drugs is a program to educate youth and adults with factual information about drugs so they can make informed decisions and live drug-free. There is an overview booklet as well as one for every major illegal substance as well as pain killers and synthetic drugs. These materials have helped people around the world learn about the destructive side effects of drugs and thereby make the decision for themselves to not use them.
Through a worldwide network of volunteers, 50 million drug prevention booklets have been distributed and tens of thousands of drug awareness events have been held in some 180 countries.
This is one of the many humanitarian programs that members of the Church of Scientology support to improve communities everywhere. The Church of Scientology Flag Service Organization opened the Foundation for a Drug Free World’s facilities in Downtown Clearwater last year in an effort to make a difference in the Tampa Bay area.
