Fission Labs and Uniform Labs announced financing for different approaches to liquidity in tokenized investments, two of the infrastructure deals in a five-deal crypto roundup for the week ended Oct. 16.
Fission focuses on investors who want access to capital before a fund’s regular redemption window. Uniform’s Multiliquid platform lets users convert between tokenized assets and stablecoins. The approaches address different delays that can make tokenized investments difficult to move out of quickly.
Fission announced a $10 million Series A led by Pantera Capital on Oct. 15. Fortune reported that the round closed in September, placing the announcement, rather than the closing, in the week covered by the roundup. EconoTimes previously covered Fission’s Series A.
Fission says long redemption periods and limited opportunities to sell fund holdings to other investors create demand for earlier access to capital. Eligible holders could receive capital before the usual redemption date. Fortune reported that a faster sale carries a fee, without specifying its amount.
Uniform Labs announced its Polychain-led seed-round close on Oct. 15. The company said the round brought its cumulative funding to $8 million; it did not disclose the seed round’s size. Uniform says subscription and redemption delays create demand for conversions between tokenized assets and stablecoins.
During the week ended Oct. 16, Bitcoin (BTC) rose 2.4%, while Ether (ETH) fell 5.1%. The total crypto market declined 2.2%, and the market excluding Bitcoin and Ether dropped 4.9%.
U.S. spot Bitcoin exchange-traded funds recorded $228.4 million in net outflows over Oct. 12-16, based on Farside Investors’ daily figures. Spot Ether funds recorded $320.1 million in net outflows. Those totals measure money moving into and out of the funds; they do not identify the investors behind the activity.
Fission plans to support more funds and increase the liquidity available through its service.
